This appears to have worked. Thank you very much.
As someone who barely knows his way around a unix machine, I very much
appreciate this.
As a recommendation, I think Bird documentation as well as full install
examples should be migrated off the existing website and on to something
like readthedocs.io. I'd even be happy to help set it up. Since I am no
expert, I'd be the perfect test case with a VM and the install procedures.
