Bird 2.0 Install

I am beginning to give up. As a very inexperienced Ubuntu user, I am trying
to install bird 2.x. But cannot seem to figure out how to use apt-get to
install anything above bird 1.6. What am I doing wrong and why is this
sooooo hard?
