PPA Versions

My advice is to mirror a static copy of the repo.
We do that for a wide variety of repos for all our prod infrastructure to
ensure repeat-ability and also availability.
It comes at the cost of disk space, as you may end up with several
copies/versions of the repo, but the benefits are worth it for us.
