Setup:
Do configure with --enable-mpls switch

(FreeBSD example)
./configure --prefix=/usr/local --mandir=/usr/local/man 
--infodir=/usr/local/info/ --build=amd64-portbld-freebsd8.2  --enable-mpls

FreeBSD users can edit net/bird-devel port, change its version to 
20120307 and call 'make makesum'

This version is considered as RC1.
