compile with glibc2.2

hellow,
I have problem compiling bird on linux 2.4.3 with glibc2.2
and gcc 2.95.3 (20010219). the system is debian-testing
distribution.

if someone have suggestion, lets tell me where is the problem.
it gives an error on obj/lib/io.c:
